"White Beach"

The town derived it's name of Playa Blanca from this beach.

Eleven of Lanzarote's beaches (including this one) have been granted the Blue Flag of the European Union. This category indicates that the waters of the sea have been found to be totally pure and free of pollution (based on fortnightly random checks by independent laboratories) and that the facilities and amenities of the beaches conform to the high standards laid down by EU regulations.

At the end of this promenade (close to where this photograph was taken) is the highly recommended two star hotel, Casa del Embajador [click for info]. It is built on the top of a rocky promontory and has wonderful views.

The promenade continues for a long way beyond this beach and will shortly take us to my own favourite beach - Dorada Beach. But before that, let's look around a bit.
